What is your name?
Roni Uribe
How long have you worked at Martin Brattrud?
15 Years
How did you find Martin Brattrud?
A recruiter called my previous job; I happened to answer the phone, she then asked if I was happy there (previous job). I really was not so I set up an interview with her which led me to an interview at MB.
Tell us about your job.
Mornings on a typical day are spent answering emails. Once those are organized in my to do list, I begin working on quote requests. Quote requests entail discussing with the team how we can achieve the design vision a client may have, obtaining pricing for materials from vendors, etc. All days are different, some more challenging than others but I love that I learn new things every day.
What’s your most memorable project at Martin Brattrud
I have worked in several positions in my time at Martin Brattrud, I was the fabric coordinator when we were awarded the Dallas Cowboys project. This is the most memorable project for me because this project helped further elevate MB’s capabilities and I think this made the industry take notice of us.
What are you most proud of at work?
My biggest satisfaction in my work is knowing that our clients are happy with the product they receive. To know that I had something to do with that is rewarding.
Does owning stock in the company change the way you feel about your job?
I would say yes and no. My job was important to me before we owned stock. I enjoy what I do and pride myself in providing the best service I can. Now owning stock I still have the same mind set but I am grateful to management for the blessing.
You get to take one MB piece and put it in your home. What is it and why?
I am fortunate to have a couple MB pieces in my home. My family loves our Birney sectional. If I could add another piece to my home, I would maybe add an Inyo or Anacapa chair, the design is cool.
What’s special about the people you work with?
The MB team is special in many ways. The dedication to craftsmanship is admirable. We all bring something to MB that helps it be successful.
Who inspires you and why?
My biggest inspiration is my daughter. Seeing life through her eyes is a wonderful thing, I learn new things constantly. Helping her grow up into a caring human and successful member of society is not an easy task but it so fulfilling.
What’s your favorite thing about California?
I was born and raised in California; my favorite is that it offers a bit of everything. There are so many beautiful places to explore.
What’s your go-to comfort food and where do you get it?
My comfort food is my mom’s cooking. Her main dishes are Mexican. Her tamales and Pozole are the best I’ve ever had. The love she puts into her cooking shows in the taste. I have always said she should open a restaurant.
What’s the latest movie or show that you watched?
The last movie I watched was Top Gun:Maverick, LOL . I never saw the first movie. It’s not really my kind of movie but it wasn’t too bad. I like romance comedies. Would I recommend it, I’d say yes.
Let's play This or That. Circle the one you would choose...
